What Drift stores

When you have an account, Drift keeps only:

• Your email address (so you can sign in).
• The trails you save, and the cards in them.
• Your likes and dislikes, and the gentle interests they build, so drifting can reflect what you enjoy.
• Small settings, like dark mode.
• If you set one: a handle and display name, plus who your friends are and any trails you have shared with them.

There is no third-party analytics following you around, and nothing is ever sold. Drift uses Google AdSense to help keep it free, but it has no interest in maximizing your time. It is built to be the opposite of that.

Your trails, interests, and settings are stored on your device first, and (when you are signed in) synced privately to a Supabase database so they follow you between devices. Friends and anything shared with you live only in that database, so they are waiting whenever you sign in. Your data is yours alone: it is protected so that only your account can read or change it.

To help keep Drift free, it uses Google AdSense. With your consent, AdSense may set third-party cookies, and you can change that choice from the consent prompt in the app. Everything else is essential only: a secure sign-in token so you stay logged in, your saved trails and settings, and small preferences like dark mode. Drift itself runs no tracking or analytics.

The cards themselves are made from openly licensed human knowledge: Wikipedia articles, under CC BY-SA 4.0, and public-domain artworks from the Art Institute of Chicago, under CC0 1.0. Every card links to the page it came from, whose history credits the people who wrote it. Drift only reshapes that content into cards and threads. It never invents facts.

You are in control. Sign out to clear Drift from a device. To remove everything for good, open your account and choose Delete account. That permanently deletes your account and every trail, like, interest, handle, and share tied to it. It cannot be undone.
